Today has been full of changes. Several riders plan on meeting friends and/ or family and some are spending the night, which added a bit of confusion for unloading bags today. By the end of our group meeting last night, we did not have a lunch spot, the riders had ten extra miles, and we had changed our sleep spot from a church to a hotel. The church was planning to put everyone together on a gym floor, which works fine for middleschoolers and their crazy leaders :) but not so much for older folk. By the time we finished breakfast, everyone knew we would be serving lunch at a church parking lot. Soon after we left the yurt, we were alerted of a detour which added more extra miles for our riders.
Fortunately, we took a highway, and arrived ahead of them. Unfortunately, I set off the alarm system in the church, which sent the police- oops! For some reason, the church leaves their door unlocked, but sets the alarm! Several riders offered to bail me out if I got put in jail!!
After lunch, we checked into the hotel, and the boys worked hard delivering bags to each room, and then went for a swim. A few riders have even tipped them! It is a blessing to know we are appreciated and our boys are well liked.
We had an early dinner at a local Mexican restaurant, which offered a buffet of choices and had TV's on. We watched Mexico get a red card in soccer :( We ate too much, and had dessert!
Now for some down time before our meeting...
We are cooking dinner (pasta, chicken and broccoli in a creamy lemon sauce) for the group in a few days- Jonica, thanks for the recipe!
