Capital city

We are in Madison, WI! Before leaving the retreat center we stayed at last night,  we took a walk through the woods to "Durwards Glenn."

The retreat center was nice, and Nancy made a delicious pasta with pesto dinner last night.
Since lunch was "on our own today," we visited the Henry Vilas Zoo. On the way,  we crossed Wisconsin lake on a ferry.

That was a slight challenge in squeezing the width of the trailer onto the ferry.  This was the first time the boys were on a ferry! They're looking forward to going across lake Michigan in a few days!! We will go across as a family while Ken and John drive the "truck" into Chicago.
The zoo was a small, free zoo,  but had many interesting animals. We had fun watching the polar bears, and Todd always enjoys the reptile house.

Capyboppy!

Laura and Eva,  we saw some giraffes!

Before checking into the hotel,  we stopped in town and ate at a local pizza place called Pizza Brutta.
We also visited the capital building,  which was very big and very beautiful.

We relaxed some at the hotel (swam in the pool and sat on the hot tub!), and then went to a place recommended by a local in town called The Old Fashioned. We had more cheese curds (beer battered and deep fried) as well as bratwurst!
It was another delicious meal.  After dinner, we celebrated Hope's birthday with some cheesecake :) Happy Birthday Hope!
Tomorrow we go to Oconomowoc, still in Wisconsin.

  1. Sounds like your time in Wisconsin has been anything but "cheesy"! By the time the journey ends, you will have covered most forms of transportation except a space ship. That will probably happen too sometime in the future. Keep having fun with this.
